Loddon Healthy Minds Network Art Competition 2025

Judging is now finalised for our 2025 Art Competition, with 265 eligible entries this year. This Annual competition is run in an effort to continue to raise awareness of mental health within the Loddon community. 

This competition is open to all residents of the Loddon Shire Council, students attending schools in the Loddon region including home schooling students and residents under 18 who have either left school or are attending school outside of the Loddon Shire area.

 Eligibility

All entries under the age of 18 must be accompanied with a signed parental/guardian entry form and be received at the Loddon Shire Council office, 41 High Street, Wedderburn, Vic, 3518 by Monday 4 August 2025 as per our guidlines.

  • The artwork must be in line with the theme for each section and is open to entries from Loddon Shire residents
  • Section age groups:
    • The open section of this competition was open to all Loddon Shire residents aged over 18 years, or residents under 18 who have either left school or are attending school outside of the Loddon Shire area.
    • Upper secondary section for those in Yr 9 to Yr 12 attending secondary school within the Loddon Shire region.
    • Middle school section for those in Grade 5 to Yr 8 attending school within the Loddon Shire region.
    • Junior sections: for those from Grade Prep to Grade 2 and Grade 3 to Grade 4, attending school within the Loddon Shire region and must use our supplied A4 colouring posters 

Themes for this year were as follows.

Themes: Open section & Senior students in year 9 to 12: "If you stumble, make it part of the dance" or "It's okay to say NO" 

Themes: Middle school students grade 5 to year 8: "Believe in yourself" or "Life in balance"

Theme: Junior students grades 3 to 4: "I Am Proud To Be Me"

A4 colouring poster will be supplied to all Loddon schools and is available to download HERE

Theme: Junior students grades Prep to 2: "Hey, Can I Help You"

A4 colouring poster will be supplied to all Loddon schools and is available to download HERE

The art themes challenged entrants to explore why mental health is important to everyone, and looking at their own mental health.

Open Section First Prize: Anne Maree Hansen. Theme: If you stumble, make it part of the dance – A new day every day. Mistakes are made and so is beautiful wine. If you stumble make it part of the dance is not about ballet, dancing or boot scooting, it’s about learning from mistakes and starting “a new day, every day”. Life experiences have ups and downs, that’s what stumbles are, dancing is getting on with life, a beautiful life.

First Prize  Boort District School: Grace Karuvelil Binu Year 9 Theme:  If you stumble, make it part of the dance - The ballerina is still performing even when her best friend betrayed her, which is the knife through her back. She clearly has alot going on in her life which is depicted by her new dress and all the colours mixing on it. Even though she’s going through it all she keeps dancing.
